FAQ

Rime AI is a leading provider of ultra-realistic, multi-lingual text-to-speech (TTS) models. Their technology is designed to make voice AI sound and feel human, with advanced features like code-switching, emotional inflection, and real-time speech synthesis.

Rime offers two flagship TTS models: Arcana v2, which is their most human and expressive model boasting over 300 voices, including bilingual and multilingual options, instant code-switching, and unmatched realism, making it ideal for warm, nuanced, and emotionally resonant conversations. The other is Mist v2, a high-speed, enterprise-grade model with sub-200 ms latency in the cloud and less than 100 ms on-prem, designed for high-volume, scalable voice applications with extensive customization and deployment flexibility.

To get started with Rime AI, first sign up for an account on their website, then generate an API key from your account dashboard. Use this API key to integrate Rime’s TTS models into your application. For on-premise deployment, you should contact Rime directly for Docker images and licensing.

Rime offers several deployment options including cloud deployment, secure VPC deployment, and on-premise deployment, which includes HIPAA and SOC 2 Type II compliance for regulated industries.

To use the Rime API, make HTTP or WebSocket requests to the Rime API endpoint, ensuring your API key is included in the authorization header. You must specify the text, speaker, and model ID in your request. An example request would involve sending a POST request to an endpoint like http://localhost:8000 with an Authorization header containing your Bearer API key and a JSON body specifying the text, speaker, and model ID, such as 'Hello, world!' spoken by 'joy' using the 'mist' model.

For on-premise deployment, the Rime API instance listens on port 8000 for HTTP traffic and port 8001 for WebSocket traffic. You must also allow outbound traffic to https://optimize.rime.ai/usage, https://optimize.rime.ai/license, and us-docker.pkg.dev on port 443.

Rime has a zero data retention policy. By default, they do not store your calls or requests. If you need to monitor requests for Speech QA (out-of-vocabulary terms), you can enable the saveOovs parameter in your API call.

Rime handles pronunciation of tricky terms through its Speech QA tools, which allow users to flag out-of-vocabulary (OOV) terms, listen to and review their pronunciation accuracy, approve or reject entries, and request corrections that are subsequently added to the dictionary by Rime’s linguists.

Rime AI can be used for various applications including customer service and call automation, healthcare communication, retail and hospitality, multilingual and bilingual applications, and creating brand-specific voice experiences.

You can contact Rime AI for support by emailing help@rime.ai or by mail at 911 Minna Street, San Francisco, CA 94103.
